If you spend much time around street folk, as I have in the past, you know that they are not unintelligent, and are very good at absorbing, repackaging, and using for their own purposes, the ideative trends of the day. They can draw from wide-ranging sources--everything from Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Phil to a presidential speech. One day it's on the lips of some Harvard professor, and in short order, it's being re-spouted by a homeless bum.
A forty-yr-old Portland, OR homeless man was arrested after he dropped his pants and began washing his genitals in a public drinking fountain, with children playing nearby. When later confronted by a reporter at the same park, he explained:
A KGW reporter spotted him Wednesday at the same park and asked him about the charges.
"I was arrested because I was taking a bath in and washing up in the fountain because no one cares about me. They took my housing, took away my medical and social security," he responded.
In other words: "I didn't wash that." It was the fault and responsibility of the collective, not me. As with Pres. Obama's "you didn't build that," the credit or blame rests with the collective, not the individual.
Here's a followup report from Koinlocal6 TV news. According to Portland Police, "what this man did is not uncommon," but this guy was just unlucky enough to get caught and make the news. A parent at the park says that the incident will "make us think twice about using a public drinking fountain again." The Parks Dept. will undertake educational efforts "to make sure that people know the proper use for the water fountains" and they dispatched a crew to sanitize this particular fountain.
ROFL let's bring this closer to home .."you didn't post that. Somebody else posted that"
Yeah!
