America, the ungovernable (Congressmen, generation, Obama, politicians)

There is no unity on fundamental beliefs. It used to be that Americans wanted to get to the same place but disagreed about how to get there. We agreed on the ends, but quarreled about means. Those days are over. Americans don't even want the same things anymore.
Since our founding in rebellion it has been the custom of the masses to disrespect their leaders. This has only become worse over time.
American leaders are despised by those whom they lead, no matter what they do. This is a kind of poetic justice. In order to become a leader in America, one has to behave like a rebel. "Throw the bum out" - etc. That's how the system works. Once the rebels get into office suddenly they have to defend their authority against the democratic mob they were once a part of. Madness.
Men who run for public office - from any party - are subjected along with their families to the most scurrilous lies and abuse.
Men who run for public office will have their every youthful misdeed exposed to the world.
Because leaders get little respect, good men seldom volunteer to lead.
There is no time for leaders to accomplish big things. Terms are too short. Every minute in office is spent with an eye towards the next election.
Leaders can't tell Americans the truth. Americans don't want to hear it. You have to flatter the masses to get anywhere. Tell the truth and your career is toast.
The voting pool is much too large. Too many ill-informed, uneducated, and wrongly formed opinions decide the fate of America and the free world.
Sadly...all of this is true. America USED to be the land of HOPE...now it is the land of CONFUSION.
I think the MAIN problem is that the media seems able to dictate the direction this country moves in. By their biased reporting and manipulation of the facts, they convince the unintelligent of whatever they wish. And sadly....the average American voter is a f**king DOPE. Sorry to say....but true. The fact that obama has a 50% approval rating after the past 3.5 years is testament to that.

Good point about the media, Tall. It's amazing what a 30 second TV spot can do to change an election.
I think 90% of the blame can be placed on the American system of Government. I just will never work well again, not that it ever has mind you. Do you know how great the American people have been over the course of American history? Thry have built a great and powerful country dispite the awful goverance they have recieved by the nearly complete corrupt political class.
The system needs to be reformed so badly it should be job 1 in the USA. It will never happen though because the ones who would have to be the ones to reform it are the same corrupt political hores who are the worst parasites that I have ever seen.
As long as being a public servant in the USA is such a perfect gravey train for these parasites and for many of them multi generational parasites, nothing will ever be done to fix the mess.

Wow... what rubbish!
Name another country that has bailed out so many, that has given so much to the world. No other country has, in such a short time (225 years,) done so much for so many. Our system of government has always worked well; it's the politicians, bankers, corporations and globalists that have turned it into a shadow of what it should be.

Well, I say what you are saying is total rubbish. In the history of the USA there has been hundreds upon hundreds of corrupt political machines that were no better than the mob and in many cases where part of it. Americans seem to have this capacity to forget the facts about the past. Your system has allowed complete criminals to control and to skim billions from almost every single major city in the nation. How many state politicans are there in jail in the USA??? Those who are are just the tip of a huge iceberg. How about the American justice system??? It's no justice system at all but a very dirty compromised political system of unjustice. Even local law enforcement becomes a matter of dirty political operations and dirty politicians. Same thing with judges.
You blame the politicians, bankers, corporations and globalists. That's a load of crap. Every country has those same forces in play. It's the job of the government to make sure the interests of the people and the country trump those interests. The system and structure of the government can be such that these special interests are kept in their proper place in the overall scheme of things. It's just completely obvious that just is not the case in the USA and it never has been. Your government is not the sovereign power of the people at all but the private power of special interests. They throw the people a few bones once in a while just to keep them in line!!!!!

How big would you have the cut in the electorate be? Who decides who gets cut when you do it?
How long would you have terms be? Are you talking about President or Congressmen? Both?
Not all of our people are thinking only about their re-election, I don't think.
The end will come, when the citizens realize they can vote themselves the entire treasury - Benjamin Franklin
