North Korea wanna to race but failed to jump start while India just completed the race. India tests nuke-capable missile able to hit China - Yahoo! News
Ironic, while there is no fear or condemnation over India arms race despite its population of huge internal social and welfare problems, there are much objections over to the build up arms race in North Korea.

Two reasons for people not being so worried about India getting a missile:

1. This missile doesn't radically change the power dynamics of the rivalry with Pakistan, as both were already capable of nuking each other and don't because of the fear of mutually assured destruction. What the missile means is that India's other big rival, China, which is more and more trying to throw it's military weight around in the region, is suddenly on an equal nuclear playing field with India. Previously, China could vapourize New Delhi, but India would have no ability to retaliate against Beijing. While things aren't anywhere near that tense between the countries, it was a potentially dangerous power imbalance and this new development means, like the USA and Soviet Union before them, it's now almost impossible for China and India to use Nuclear weapons on each other. As such, this means the region just got more stable, not less.

2. Unlike crazy North Korea, India is a secular democracy. It isn't run like one huge military, and its leaders aren't constantly provoking other states militarily in a high risk bid to look tough and maintain their positions within the state. India just isn't the kind of country that would launch a nuclear warhead first, it isn't their MO at all and the people wouldn't elect a government that crazy, so I actually believe them when they say it's only for defence. Moreover, India's got problems, but the country is actually quite stable for the region it's in and is modernizing rapidly. I really don't think other countries need to fear what India will do now that it has a delivery system, but I think it's entirely reasonable to worry about what North Korea would do with a nuke and intercontinental ballistic missile, they're just a very, very different kind of state.

India is ruled by sane, rational, democratically elected politicians with reasonable ambitions for their country and people.

North Korea is ruled by psychopathic zealots dedicated to butchery, torture, and abuse, and that's just of their own people. Who knows what they would do to people from other countries. However, we do have the the bombing of the KAL flight heading to Rangoon, the sinking of ships, and the artillery bombardment of civilians with whom they have concluded an armistice. We have the axe murders of tree trimmers in the DMZ even though the operation had been previously jointly agreed to, hidden infiltration tunnels under the DMZ, attempted and successful abductions of civilians and soldiers, mass detention camps, and a willingness to sell their technology to any and all comers with cash in hand, along with the mass counterfeiting of the other nation's currency (which is an act of war by the way). So yes, the North Korean's nuclear capable weapons worry me a lot more than those of the Indians.

But in response, eventually the South Koreans, the Japanese and Taiwanese will all go nuclear as well, and the situation in East Asia will improve. I'm sure the Chinese will appreciate a nuclear Japan.

Default Don't worry be happy!

Hi my Malaysian friend,
Rest assured there is not a country on this planet that has any intention of mutating and/or taking the chance of melting themselves, by nuking their enemy. The logic in this staement is, who knows which way the wind blows. An example would be, on the 4th of July when there are fireworks, the wind may initially blow the smoke away from you; then all of a sudden the wind changes and you are coughing and your eyes are burning. Imagine if that smoke was radiation!
The United States and several countries monitor this galaxy and are laser ready. Mother Nature (flooding, landslides, forest fires, water & air pollution) are real concerns in your vicinity than getting nuked and/or dying, mutation, and radiation sickness.

LOL! Apparently you don't know much about Indian politics. They make Obama look like a saint.

I do agree with North Korea.. I don't even understand why some people can ask such dumb questions. North Korea or other crazy countries with nukes would be terrible. As of now, the countries with nuclear weapons are all countries that would probably NOT use them. The last thing we need in this world are nutcases that will actually use them as an offensive tactic.

What does that have to do with anything? Do not base your arguments on the assumption that the political system that you personally prefer has, by that fact alone, any natural superiority, entitlement or justification for self defense.

Your country boycotted the 1982 Olympics because the "crazy" Soviets occupied Afghanistan, and now look who's crazy.

I don't think attacking North Korea would be a good move, given that they have always had a close relationship wth China.

In terms of the most likely country to be attacked, I should imagine it would be Iran, and by Isral not the US.
