What if Iran strikes first? (Iraq, middle east, Israeli, Afghanistan)

They have submarines and long range missiles to attack ships. How effective such an attack would be is questionable. We all know what the Army and Air Force is capable of but the abilities of the navy are somewhat unknown and untested in real battle.
That's a good question. Their military capabilities aren't that impressive. They do have the equipment and manpower to launch an attack though. What if they do?

Yeah somehow i doubt we would be facing the roman legions or anything. More like conscripted peasants.

We declare war on friday morning and 48 hours later it's over ....oh shucks....lets be generous 72 hours. I remember my father talking about how when we attacked iraq in 91 that people talked up the republican guard like we were facing crack german units during ww2. Somehow i imagine the results with iran will be about the same.
They will want to have their people behind them, and an unprovoked attack (from us) and maybe an invasion, and sadly, some American GIs committing some attrocities on their soil are what they will need to get people ginned up for a hopeless battle.
I'll tell you, we sure as hell don't need it, and I suspect the Israelis could ship them on their own.

What constitutes an attack to you? Sending money and weapons to Hamas? So for that, you're already all in for a war against them?
They have been moving arms and their own people into Iraq, Afghanistan, and with Hamas against Israel.
IMO they have beens striking since the Shah of Iran was removed and Carter let them hold hostages forever.
