1) Vastly expand and disallow prohibiting Walmart and CVS type clinics staffed by an RN or PA for treating little things. It does not take a PHD to tell me I have a sinus infection but AI can not get antibiotics without a scrip.
...
That's up to your state to decide when one is practicing medicine without a license.
I am sure the AMA has a view on this and Walmart's lawyers, who don't want to get hit with a lawsuit because that "little thing" ended up being undiagnosed cancer.
Anyone who thinks we can control the cost of HI without controling the cost of HC is living in a fantasy land.
Very correct.
The odd thing is that we need not re-invent the wheel. We already have abundant models in Europe that conclusively show that we can cut costs in half; cover all citizens and have have medical results better than we currently do.
The problem is that for-profit insurance companies shower Congress with lots of cash in order for us not to have the best system possible.
Part of the problem with HC is very few care what it costs.
Hospitals dont, larger bills = larger profits.
HI co,s dont. They are allowed to keep 20% and pay out 80% , when the 80% gets larger , so dosnt the 20%.
The average consumer pays about 10% with his employer picking up the rest. If his bill goes from $20 a week to $27 a week he may ***** about it for something to talk about , but in all reality its not a game changer.
We do not need a Health Industry. We need Health Care and the least expensive way to provide it is to eliminate any private sector profit driven involvement. We need to nationalize the entire system from local physician to mega pharmaceuticals. The biggest savings would come from eliminating private sector profits and excess managerial salaries.
Often, many will point out the fact that countries (like Switzerland) are much smaller and less populated than the USA. As a reason that America can't have universal healthcare.
So what are the advantages of living in the world's wealthiest nation?

Does that mean gvmt ownership of hospitals, big pharma, primary care?

Freedom. Liberty. Choice.
I'm an advocate of a national health plan, by the way.
