Anyone who believes that you can add millions to the public dole (medicaid expansion anyone?) and thinks costs will go down is D-E-L-U-S-I-O-N-A-L. Oh wait, that was an UNFUNDED MANDATE so those costs aren't factored into CBO estimates. Convenient, eh?

I thought the incentive for the "rational use of healthcare" was to keep people healthy and alive? You know-- improve the quality of life.

Would you be able to afford colon cancer? I need surgery and six months of chemotherapy. Over 200K in costs. What if I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford care? Even with insurance, in reality, someone else paid for my care-- I haven't paid nearly 200K in premiums.

Health care is a right that is not contingent upon your ability to pay. The rich do not deserve to live more than the middle class and poor do.
Wow what an interesting jump in logic that is. There certainly is a place between let the sick die and paying for your own healthcare.

Healthcare is not a right. Rights are not something gained at another's expense.

I simply don't get the logic myself. Obama is saying that it's a "public option." Now if you already have medical coverage being paid for whether you pay for it or your employer is covering the cost, aren't you already paying for the public option via taxes beforehand? Seems like those who will continue to fund it themselves will end up paying twice. One payment for their private insurer, the second payment will be for the medical care that they are not using that others are entitled to.

Well that's how the ones that cannot afford it will get it.
Their premiums will be subsidized and guess who has to pay for that subsidization ?

Everyone's a winner..see ?

Well our premiums will just go up to cover the cost.
And don't forget that anyone making $200K a year will have an additional tax. And anyone who has a cadillac health plan will pay a tax. Plus there's a few other taxes kicking in.

We have all these taxes kicking in that will pay for it. And if it's not enough then just raise the tax.

Remove Obamacare by removing Democrats and Obama.

Remove the decades of unions in government that have been bribing politicians to grow and over pay and benefit them.

Concentrate our social safety net resources almost only on the elderly and disabled.

Remove all non-citizens including legal residents from any access to social programs. If they were on them more than a year, make them leave the country since one of the conditions of being here is to be able to pay for yourself.

Major tort, lawsuit and lawyer reform.
Allow cross state competition for medical insurance.

Over 3 million exempt. Even AARP got an exemption. All the groups that championed this bill then stood in line and got exempt including the very Congress that lauded it as the best thing since sliced bread.

It's so good yet many groups that stood behind the bill don't want anything to do with it.

Exemptions from Obamacare Continue: Now it's the AARP :: Political News and commentaries :: Hyscience

Another poster that didn't bother to actually read the CBO report or understand how the Affordable Care Act works.

We could only dream of the day when health care insurance was a public service -- the way it is in nearly every other western country -- with better medical results and 1/2 the cost.
