MIRCEA:

Based on some of your past posts, it appears as if you may have at one time been in the same field as me. You talk as if you have a decent Military/Intel background, but your info is VERY DATED! you will be proved wrong very soon! In fact, there is already PLENTY of Intel out there that shows you are very off base on most of what you try to spew in your high and mighty attitude! I hope you are as willing to come on here and post that you have been off base here soon when it is shown that you know not what your are talking about!

On 6 December and 13 December, the Soviet Navy dispatched two groups of cruisers and destroyers and a submarine armed with nuclear missiles from Vladivostok; they trailed U.S. Task Force 74 into the Indian Ocean from 18 December 1971 until 7 January 1972. The Soviets also had a nuclear submarine to help ward off the threat posed by USS Enterprise task force in the Indian Ocean.

And that was, technically, the beginning of the final chapter of Pakistan's "democracy" and the birth of Bangladesh.
I have to admit I was a little more concerned with our foolishness in Vietnam at the time than what was going on in other parts of Asia. Did we really give a rat's ass about either Pakistan/India or was it just one of the good ol' days when we took one side, Russia took the other and we took turns rattling sabers?

I think the history dates back to the beginning of the Cold War era, and shortly after founding of Pakistan. USA won that "friendship" and India had trade/technology agreements with the USSR. In the 1960s, the US government was very active politically in the region (Pakistan was strategically located right below the southern tip of USSR) and close to China, which was another country of interest.

But things took turn for the worse, when Nixon openly chose to give unconditional support to Pakistan. India, shortly after, signed a friendship pact with the USSR. And the rest of the story follows. I got to this learning process after reading this release of Nixon administration documents.

Sounds like just another case of stupidly believing "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", too bad we didn't learn the truth is that the enemy of our enemy is very often our enemy too before rushing off to back the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan.

It is academically dishonest and disingenuous to pick a single day as the starting point.

Israeli terrorists did not bomb the British Embassy in Rome? They most certainly did. And then you would decry the Palestinians for using the very same tactics that Israelis used to gain independence.

Israeli terrorists didn't murder Count Fokke the UN Mediator? They most certainly did. They gunned down he and his driver like animals in the streets. That's an act of terrorism.

Would you like me to list dozens of other terrorists acts committed by Irgun or the Stern Gang or others?

You seem to have selective memory.

Selectively....

Mircea
Actually I have read that there is just the opposite proof that the Iranians are developing nuclear weapons.

You seem to have a select memory as to the starting points of the Arab terror on Jews in Palestine/Israel. The Arabs killed Jews in riots in 1920, 1929 and between 1936-1939. This predates everything that you have mentioned.

So perhaps you need to check your academic facts before throwing accusations at others.

Israeli hardliners are insane. They figure Uncle Sam will take care of them FOREVER. That's truly frightening.

The amount of so-called anti-Semitism is no greater or less than anything else. When asking a question like "Why shouldn't Israel review their polices regarding the West Bank and the Gaza Strip?" are labeled anti-Semitic, well, that shows how insane some people are.

If Iran would have a nuclear weapons program, that would not stop it; in fact, that would give a Iran a legitimate reason to develop nuclear weapons.

Amused...

Just another ignorant ill-informed uneducated fanatic.

And people like that are allowed to vote. That's scary.

Curiously...

Mircea

You know that and I know that, but not everyone is a Big Brain.

Correctly...

Mircea
If he made no such claim of wiping Israel of the map then I apologize. But it was in all the media so maybe they were lying or distorting what he said.
