What does this tell you about the longterm future of a fully socialized health care system?

What we've known for a while....UK HC system is imploding.

The dems/left didn't get the memo, because they want out system to be just like theirs.

ONE hospital going private signifies the beginning of the end of the NHS?

Yeah, you'd love to see it "implode" wouldn't you? What you've known for a while? You're not even British. I could write everything you know about the NHS on the back of a postage stamp.

Unfortunately for you, it's not going to happen. There may be reforms and partial privatisation, but the UK will NEVER enact a for profit system like the US. There are plenty of alternative ways to skin a cat as they say.

You think that 10 hospitals going private would do the trick?

Some years ago the police in a community in California caught an old woman peeing in the ocean and when they asked her why she only could say that her husband was swimming and she wanted to drown him and every little bit helps.

Large movements often start with small beginnings. Of course, you are speaking to what sanrene said about it being a beginning?

And too many British people think that it hasn't been found by them yet.

Isn't this the exact same thing OWS says?

Our movement is small but it will grow...

I forgot, there are different rules when it comes to the liberal progressive left..

IMO it signifies the British going to a mix system. Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't private health insurance a rapidly growing industry in Britain? I don't think it signifies the death of the NHS at all but more of a role for private enterprise.

The number of people without health insurance is growing. The cost of insurance is going up 15% a year.

I get the feeling many on this board cant wait until only the 1% have health insurance.

The 99% are suprlus anyway.

No, it's just a desire not to have a for-profit system and a fear of the Anglo-Saxon business model that would seize the chance to impose it on us. We need a system similar to that of Germany or Holland - a hybrid, in which everyone is still guaranteed coverage.
