If only the rest of America could appreciate his vision and dreams for this country's future

"Canada and China expanded cooperation Wednesday with agreements to boost bilateral investment and promote energy exports to China as Ottawa seeks to diversify its oil sales.

The agreements were signed during the first full day of a visit by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who wants to push oil sales and closer economic ties following President Barack Obama’s rejection of a pipeline carrying Canadian oil across the continental United States....."

"......Harper remains determined to build a pipeline to Canada’s Pacific Coast after Obama rejected the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have taken oil from Alberta to the Texas Gulf Coast."

“Diversifying our markets is a key priority for Canada,’’ Harper said in opening remarks to Wen. “We look forward to expanding our cooperation in any important areas, including energy, natural resources, tourism and education.’’

No specific details on the agreements were provided. Other agreements that were signed included promoting science and technology cooperation, student exchange programs and natural resource development.

Much to do about nothing.

Oil is a world wide market. If a barrel goes to China, it still lowers prices in the United States. If a barrel goes to the United States, it lowers it to China.

Notice, they didn't list the "energy" resources, and if you read the whole article, they mention several things, including education.

You obviously don't know the history of the Harper government and China, do you? Their cozying up to China is nothing new.

In any case, if you want to blame someone, blame the GOP for inserting that amendment into the unemployment payments bill which required the President to make a final decision on the Keystone before the new environmental impact statements for the changed route could possibly be done. They knew perfectly well he couldn't veto the bill and would be left with the "blame" for putting off a decision on the pipeline.

It's called political grandstanding. It's called creating an artificial "crisis" for political advantage. It's called putting their party ahead of the national interest.

And, of course, it's all based upon the premise that their supporters are a bunch of dunderheads, unable or unwilling to see how their support, and their nation, has been defrauded.

Who needs Canadian oil? America has Obama's Chevy Volt and Solyndra to lessen America's dependency on foreign oil.

Obama has everything under control.

meanwhile, Obobo the Socialist Clown is running another Solyndra Scam on the East Coast with electric cars...

Too bad his first sham fell apart - they could have equipped them $100,000 electric cars with overpriced solar panels to bring down the price and make a feasible transportation alternative for the Berkenstock-clad city dwellers..

What flavor Koolaid do you drink?

You all must realize that the national press are using this to their particular party affiliations advantange.

Canadian press, while naturally exuberant over the increased number of agreements, are downplaying this oil thing as China's economy is reaching it's apogee of a 35 year steady growth to peak soon and begin a free fall. Economists are predicting the sale of oil to China won't ever equate to what's currently being shipped south.

The Human Rights groups have been quietly shunted to the side with the world getting very tired of countries who perform badly getting slapped on the wrist in a costly and futile endeavour to bring conformity, to then resume their bad behaviour in spades.

I don't see this as a failure from Obama at all but rather the logical result of anything grounded in free market and foreign commerce systems being thrown into the political arena to be tossed around and grabbed up like a fumbled football.

Canada exports LESS than 15% of GDP of it's TOTAL ENERGY PRODUCTS to China. Yet exports MORE than 75% of it to the U.S.

More manufactured hysteria by the hysterical GOP and it's uneducated minions.

For export to China.

Here, let's tell the truth at least once....

"...the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have taken oil from Alberta the Texas Gulf Coast for export to China."

Remember, Port Arthur, Texas is a US Commerce Department designated Foreign [Free] Trade Zone, and that the US has no need for very heavy high sulfur tar sands oil.

Debunking...

We (Canada) are sitting on such are large/massive Reserve of oil we have to become more diverse and sell it outside of the North American market to get it developed and make as much $$$ and get as many jobs we can from it.

I mean if Iran does shut down the Strait of Hormuz..Then Canada is ready to pick up the slack and we are willing to help get the Westren and Asian markets off Un-Stable Regime driven Middle Eastren (OPEC) Oil ASAP.
