I have loved to hear that song that goes on and on or so many years and never did recognize the words of the part I am asking about till today.

I have always heard "the day the music died" is about buddy holly's death not altamont or the song american pie. altamont made big news when it happened, course I lived in california so it was local news. don't have a clue what beck thinks of song. I have never liked the song, it reminds me of the death of a family member and the death of a sweet little baby girl.
