This is in spite of additional counseling since this problem was first discovered. We are not even sure what the cause is. Could this have been the case during WWII, but we did not keep the stats?

Small ray of light - suicide rates for the army are down:

"Army suicide rates declined for the first time in four years in 2011, the result of a complex effort to identify soldiers engaged in risky or self-destructive behavior, according to the outgoing vice chief of staff, Gen. Peter Chiarelli.
...
Suicides among active-duty soldiers and those in the National Guard and Reserve who are not on active duty fell by 9% last year from 305 deaths in 2010 to 278 in 2011"

For the rape issue, that's what happens when you let animals into the army.

I like how you ask for facts from someone who cites a source and then you fail to cite a source of your own. What a joke.

If you publicly lynch rapists there would be a lot less rape.

no joke

in a recession suicides are always higher

facts are that suicides are up in almost every catagory

fact the highest rate in a proffession...dentists, physicians, and nurses under the general category called health care workers, take their own lives at a higher than average rate.

the highest rate in an age demographic...those over 65, whose suicide rates are more than 50 percent higher than the national population
whose suicide rates are more than 50 percent higher than the national population

Youth ages 15 to 24 suicide rates increased more than 200 percent from the 1950s to the late 70s. Since then, rates have remained stable or decreased slightly. Suicide ranks third (after accidents and homicide) as a cause of death among young Americans aged 15 to 24.

Americans are the racial/ethnic group with the highest overall suicidal rate, but tribal group differences exist

Suicide rates are highest among the divorced, separated, and widowed, and lowest among the married

Males complete suicide at a rate four times that of females..... Females have generally been found to make three to four times as many attempts as males.

Availability of lethal means. Firearms in the home and easy accessibility to lethal doses of pharmaceuticals significantly increase risk of suicide. Firearms are currently the most used method by essentially all groups: males, females, young, old, whites, and non-whites. Firearms account for 59 percent of all suicides. White men commit 73 percent of all suicides and 79 percent of all firearm suicides. The second most common method for men is hanging; for women, it is self-poisoning, including drug overdose.

According to the American Association of Suicidology, which keeps the most current statistics available, suicide is the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. Currently there are more than 30,000 suicides annually. This computes to 83 suicides per day, or 12 of every 100,000 Americans. Putting these numbers in context, about 1.3 percent of all death is the result of suicide...(which is NATIONALLY higher than the military rate)

Still no citation, and you still are deflecting from the original post. The original article even has a chart comparing the stats to that of the civilian population, and it isn't even close. No facts from you, just misspelled blathering. Yeah, ignoring you now.

Real problems come with your good days and your bad days. Some as simple as getting a little freaked out at Texas Roadhouse when the place is packed and people are crowed in for a long wait. The feeling of being smothered or not being able to get away is noticed. Rape or some other act isn't considered. Only the feeling of not always trusting strangers. Not being able to run away should something happen. It's how you deal with it that makes the difference.

OMG! What PC bull. Shouldn't we be recruiting the best qualified to protect our country rather than the most diverse??? It truly is scary what is happening to this country. Another Czar? More money down the drain, Max!

"The commission wants the defense secretary to appoint a diversity czar who reports directly to him. At confirmations, all senior officer nominees must show the Senate Armed Services Committee that they have a rich background in promoting diversity, it said."
