The most important choice that is missing.

Neither.

Santorum is the classic example of a repressed homosexual. Those are the WORST! I'm sure he masturbates to the thought of naked muscle men when he takes a shower.

Law abiding gays? That's it?! HELLO!!! How about loving, caring, attentive, supportive, parents. Law abiding. Too much.

Santorum is a joke. He's just the flavor of the month like Perry, Bachman, and the rest of the clowns. Speaking of which, am I the only one who finds it ironic that the least homophobic GOP candidate is a Mormon? Yeah, I'm still scratching my head, too.

Santorum tangles with voters over gay marriage, health insurance - latimes.com
I think both are equally devastating for kids.

Default Is that what he really and truly SUGGESTED?

"So important is it to have both a father and a mother, Santorum suggested, that even a father who “is in jail and has abandoned” his family is better for a child than two gay parents."

“is in jail and has abandoned” is the quote from Santorum.

Seems to me “is in jail and has abandoned” could mean different things depending on the context.

Since “is in jail and has abandoned” could mean different things depending on the context in which it was said, I have to wonder what the balance of his statement was.

I also noticed that the spin doctor who placed these words in Santorum's mouth only claimed Santorum "suggested" what he is alleged to have meant.

Did he say this or does it just seem that he "suggested" it?

The part of this one that interests me is what he is in prison for. Also, did he abandon the kid before he went to prison or is his imprisonment the reason for the abandonment.

A child needs love, support, care and most of all parents who will be there for them no matter what. The gender makes NO difference. I would rather have a daughter that is a lesbian with a partner that loves her then with a man that abuses her same goes for children as far as parents go.

Oh and I am a Republican, so no we all are not homophobes.
