It is one of the reasons why I moved to Alaska from Los Angeles after their 1989 gun ban. I had legally purchased years before, in Los Angeles, a weapon on their ban list and there was no grandfather clause. Which meant that I woke up one day and was automatically a criminal. I had two choices: 1) turn myself, and my banned firearm, in to the police; or 2) leave the State. I chose the latter. That was over 20 years ago and I do not regret my choice in the least.

Yeah, based on the 'dog atop the station-wagon' incident, he sure doesn't rate as dog-catcher.

Not objectionable and that is already in place in every single state in the US with some minor exceptions. I don't have to fill out ATF form 4473 in the state of MS because I have already passed a more thorough background check and have a MS Concealed Carry Permit.

Because the people who make the laws don't know the difference either. This is one of the best examples:

JordanJP,
You also forgot the signature from your local official. You can jump through all of the federal hoops and your local sheriff can refuse to sign the paperwork. I'm looking at getting a suppressor for my rifle but I'm not sure my local officials will sign-off based on discussion in the gun forums.
That video made me laugh! Your point is made.

Guns can be stolen, and sometimes "good" people do bad things. I really don't see why we shouldn't have registration. Y'all have convinced me on the other points, though.

Are you familiar with the term "registration leads to confiscation"?

The first thing a dictator does is force registration of weapons. It eases the perception of safety; however, the reality it's a prelude to confiscation. The order of control is always registration, confiscation, and then opression/imprisonment (or worse). An unarmed citizenry is necessary for total control.

It's a proven, undeniable fact that an armed public is far safer than an unarmed public, and that's why the WTO/GATT is trying to force the US to ban handguns.

William Holder, the Deputy General Counsel of the International Monetary Fund told a WTO conference at the American University on November 19, 1994 that, "The WTO is de jure world government."

Article 16, paragraph 4 of the WTO charter (which is part of the GATT legislation) states that each government "shall ensure the conformity of its laws, regulations and administrative procedures with its obligations...."

Cold dead hands comes to mind

I live in Cali where we are only given a choice between a Liberal Dem (Davis, Brown) and a Liberal RINO (Arnold) so it's nothing new to me. I'll vote for someone other than Romney as the GOP candidate, but will have to settle for him vs. Obama. Gun rights are huge, but whats the point if this country is turned into a socialist state? Romney is the lesser of two evils, and the only choice we'll be given.

Ron Paul is the only candidate with any respect for the second amendment ...the entire constitution for that matter.

Politicians no matter which party they are want to rule over an unarmed society...the old saying "If Guns Are Outlawed,Only Outlaws Will Have Them" still holds true today..the only difference is that today the politicians are your outlaws.
