It's been said many times that a president is simply a puppet, driving an agenda of men behind the scenes. In modern times, many tend to believe these are influential forces often touted as the New World Order.
If presidents really are controlled, and you've got to think that they often don't agree with what they've been dictated to do, then why do they not shine the spotlight on them during a speech to congress, or a state of the Nation speech, of which is live and the cameras are on them for the world to see?
To the OP's opener here....because they can't. If they have a puppet-master then that person obviously doesn't want to be identified. It's like having a ghost-writer. My associates that use them would never identify them. It's the ego thing, but in something as astronomically powerful as the presidency, no way with the stakes so high would they put them in the spotlight.
With Obama, just pay attention to union leaders that brag about how often they are inside our white house and things like that.

And Ike before Kennedy. The following presidents have learned how to avoid getting a bullet in the head.
