Anyone realize that the SEC is only filing civil charges, not criminal charges? No one will serve jail time, just pay a penalty, which the transgressors are probably insured for (don't ask me how).

Hopefully there will be more to come. The folks who were in charge of Countrywide Financial (the largest lenders of subprime loans), Lehman, Merrill Lynch, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs all need to be held accountable.

It's worth noting that former and current government officials like Paulson, Bernanke, and Geithner are either incredibly incompetent or totally complicit. Unfortunately, Washington will burn before we see the SEC take on the head of the Fed and the Secretary of the Treasury.
Agreed.

paulson was complicit. He worked at Goldman 20+ years. Hes no idiot, just a criminal felon who enginnered 2008 bailouts.

Congress, Wall St, and SEC in collusion. This is a pivotal issue for 2012 elections.

As usual politcians dont seem to give a damn and continue with the divisiveness. Huge number of swing voters are voting Ron Paul on the economy alone.

Matt Taibbi already discussed this exact issue in Rolling Stone...
