I'm confused. I thought the diehard conservatives and GOP were all for tax cuts, since they believe in smaller government? It was the Bush tax cuts, two unpaid wars that got into this mess.

So which is it? Are they admitting that the economic plans under the Bush administration failed or they unhappy that Obama finally decided to take the conservative approach to extending payroll tax cuts to help the economy keep moving away from a double recession?

What a joke.

uhm

there is a difference between tax cuts (like the bush tax cut) tax credits after the math like obama 'make work credit) and a PAYROLL tax that is to pay for something SPECIFIC

the payroll tax 'amnesty' of 2% is HURTING the ss fund

is that simple enough for you

Do you realize how big of a difference the payroll tax cut made in your weekly paycheck? In my case it was barely enough to order one deli sandwich.

This small amount we are seeing in our checks was originally a portion of our SS deduction from our checks.

I'd sooner go without one deli sandwich this week as opposed to further damaging SS.

Personally, I never wanted the payroll tax cut, thought it was stupid. Also didn't like the Bush-now-Obama tax cuts. That those were extended to get more unemployment benefits ticked me off.

Well, your comment is a joke. If you believe the Bush tax cuts got us into this mess, then you shouldn't support extending the cuts.... that's hypocritical.

Deficits are not spending. Deficits with a complicit FED merely prints more money. It depends on how it is spent. Printing money and giving it to the debtors seems to correct the failed promises of the banks to write down loans doesn't it? It also helps close the de-leveraging gap to prevent wage deflation. Seems to me we have nothing but the bad socialist state democrats or the crony capital republicans. We have Hitler and Stalin. What ever happened to the new deal democrats and the middle class tax friendly republicans? The old republicans cut taxes in recessions, and the old democrats spent money in the economy. Now both of them just give money to banks.

We could use one, the other, or both of the old democrats and republicans. Where are they?

OK by that logic above, the GOP didn't support the Bush tax cuts.

Genuine bipartisan is dead. Historically, our country has done great through tough times through bipartisanship. Now we have extremes on the left and on the right.

Hence, my status update.
