Yikes, how did she get her PhD? She needs to read more about economics. She has no idea what she's talking about. I'm a left leaning moderate, but these type of claims are just asinine. The president has no authority over the GDP and deficit.

The president doesn't have power over the GDP, but they influence it with bad or good economic programs.

My broker told me in 1992 that the stock market generally did better under Democrats. I pay no attention. He still thinks that's true. Of course, he works for UBS.

Congress is greatly influenced by the president. Most major economic policy and domestic policy is thought up by the white house and is implemented by the House and Senate.
