Don't take this wrong since he says he wouldn't want it to apply to him and others who have served two terms. The biggest problem is that he wants the President to take some time off between his second and third term and to be re-elected before the third term. I guess he wants a full four years of rest for them.
I wonder how he plans to deal with the person elected between the two terms.
I also wonder if he thinks he can get a few more years in the White House with him being the first gentleman.
Some good and bad can come from this, but the third term should not be consecutive to the first two. Take a break and come back.

How about:
*Presidents limited to a single, six-year term
*Congressional elections every three years, with three-year terms for House members and one Senate seat per state permanently aligned with Presidential elections, the other permanently aligned with mid-term elections
Just a thought...
I think a single six year term would also be good. The only pitfall I see is a permanent lame duck issue.
On one hand we're throwing away a lot of experience. Imagine if other jobs were arbitrarily terminated after 8 years. But I think I would only support this if the power of government were radically slashed. Take away the power to dole out so many favors. Otherwise, a president could build up so many iou's that we could easily end up with a president-for-life.
I am just very glad that we can't possibly propose and then get passed an amendment to do away with 22 before Obama has served all the time available for him. I don't believe we would have the system we have right now if he gets re-elected, if he allows an election in 2012.
You sound as delusional as some on the left that I heard wondering whether Bush would 'step down in 2008'.
And they really meant it, just like you really mean it. Neither they nor you can even comprehend how laughably deluded you are.
I am not in favor of a third term in the future. I think the rules we have now are fine.
I agree.
