I just heard that they announced( maybe it was Obama) that military contractors and related industries were going to hire 25,000 people.

Better than had the government not added those jobs. The problem was that despite the 2.4 million jobs added both the private and public sectors where shedding them faster than the government could fill new ones.

So, uh, how many did Lowe's add?

At 19,000 jobs per month, you'll be at perpetual 9% unemployment for decades.

In the Declaration of Independence, the two jobs defined were : secure government jobs, and rob the people we govern.
Huh?
Wait, no!
It was (a) SECURE rights (endowed by our Creator) - and -
(b) GOVERN those who consent (in exchange for privileges).

Default Is Harry Reid really this Stupid?

Quote:
With 1.6 million fewer private sector jobs than at the start of President Obama's administration, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that it's critical to pass legislation for hiring teachers and police because public sector employees are losing their jobs while "private sector jobs have been doing just fine."

Speaking on the Senate floor on Wednesday, Reid was lamenting the complaints from opponents of a 5 percent tax on people who make more than $1 million a year, and offered his take on the need to pass the $35 billion stimulus portion of President Obama's American Jobs Act, which includes funding for municipal and state workers

I mean...is it possible for a human being to be this dumb? First, it is the loss of those private sector jobs that are "doing just fine" that pays for the (often over-compensated) public sector employees. It is the very loss of those jobs that drive the revenue shortfall that results in the need to cut state and local budgets, and therefore jobs. Yet this clueless nut claims we need to borrow more to protect PUBLIC sector jobs?

In reality it is the reverse. State and local governments got stupid with spending when flush with money during the "bubble" and hired employees and spent at a rate that wasn't sustainable. The recession is causing public sector spending to come more in line with where it should be (while still bloated).

Actually, it's called a tautology If you lay people off of their jobs, then those people will no longer have jobs. That's what the phrase "lay off" means. What's actually stunning is conservative insistence that more people will have jobs if fewer people have jobs.
