There is a lot more in the bill then just the mandate. In fact the mandate is probably the part of the bill progressives like the least since it is pretty much a Republican idea that is a giveaway to big insurance.

If the Supreme Court destroys one of the main parts of ObamaCare, the requirement to buy health insurance, then Republicans will lose a main reason to vote for them. So in that case I don't think Obama would be hurt as much as the Supreme Court upholding the insurance part.

Obama care will be one reason Obama doesn't get re-elected. The main reason he won't is we still have high unemployment and a stagnant economy. Unless we have a sudden turnaround (which is highly unlikely) Stick a fork in him, cause he's done.

Forcing people to buy private insurance? That is a conservative's wet-dream, and makes me wonder why conservatives haven't been so vigilante against auto-insurance in many states, which force people to buy them too.

However, if you don't have a car...you don't have to buy car insurance...unlike this bill....

Since when do conservatives want the government telling us what to buy? You have no clue what you're talking about.

And the only required auto insurance is liability insurance, which is not to cover you, but to cover the guy you run over. And it's not required just for being alive, it's required to drive, which is a privilege. Ridiculous comparison, sorry.

Without the mandate the insurance companies are toast. They'll have to cover people with pre-existing conditions and not be able to make that up by the young healthy people who then wouldn't be mandated to buy insurance.

Without the mandate, the entire bill falls apart under the weight of its cost. The CBO will have to RESCORE it and it will be repealed soon after.

Once it is deemed unconstitutional, I hope Harvard revokes Barack's law degree and everyone who took a class from him sue for a refund.

Well, the GOP alternative in 1993 was a system that had universal mandates, just like the ACA, that the current GOP claims is outrageous. While Gingrich is against the ACA today, he was for something that was just like it in 1993. The only difference is that in 1993 it was a GOP idea.
