You seem to be all over the road on this one odanny.
Is it that you want all taxes increased?
I would suggest that our marginal corporate tax rate be reduced to a level close to what most European nations have (15-25%). It is the inequity of these marginal rates than cause internationals to take extreme measures to avoid our taxes. The end result is a very low effective corporate tax rate, cost shifting and lost jobs. The low-tax nations to which profits and the associated jobs are shifted are the winners, and all they have to do is not be as greedy and stupid as the US.
Might want to check and see the taxes on individuals in European countries, that is unless you are ready to pay more so corporations can pay little to nothing.

I agree that we need tweaks, not abolishment. However, if you don't think the Republic Party is trying to abolish these programs, you're not paying attention. That is clearly their agenda. Their plan is to only abolish it for people under 55. (They know they can't get away with taking these paid for benefits away from people 55 and older, because people 55 and older are paying attention.) I have paid into the system for almost 20 years, yet I'm only 35. I do not in any way shape or form trust the Republic Party to protect my money. They are going to steal it from me. Period.
As for Medicare, it's clearly a huge liability because of runaway health care costs. I am not an expert, so I don't know how to fix that. I do know that the Republic Party has no plans to fix anything, though -- their plan is to destroy it.
I don't beleive that at all. I listen enough to know the dialogue and that is not true. I don't want to be dependent on a Govt. I would vote for changes for those under 55, as I am one of them.

Why not change the corporate tax code and remove the deductions?
I personally feel this is exactly why we need to change to a simple fair flat tax that is the same for individuals and corporations and is a percentage of net income/profit. Just imagine if we all paid something like 12%. It's an incorrect and inaccurate measure, I know, but the US GDP was $14.66 trillion last year. 12% would be around $1.6 trillion.
Of course, a lot of highly-paid tax accountants and lawyers would be out of work. My heart goes out to them, it really does. We can all collect coupons for them to be used at Wal-Mart.

Well there you go. What are you disbelieving? You support "changes" (i.e. a reduction in benefits), but you don't believe this part of the Republic agenda? It is. I don't want to be "dependent" either. I just dont' want to be robbed. I've paid into SS for 20 years. I don't want to see my money go towards a lesser benefit than people who are 55 or older. Why should those of us who are younger be the only ones who are stolen from?

Yes, as I mentioned earlier.
THeir corporate taxes are lower, but the individual taxes, such as income taxes and VAT, are higher.
A country needs X dollars - the only issue is how to determine where the dollars come from - raise individual taxes, and lower corporate; or lower individual and raise corporate.
Also remember that most of those countries with the lower corporate taxes have much more extensive and expensive social programs than the US.

I don't belive people wnat to abolish the program for those under 55. We don't have the money to take from future payers to pay for those entering the system beofre them. So the COl increases that are given now are one example of an area that would be tweaked. You would not be robbed, but simply have less of a COL increase. So you would get what you put in, actually more most likely. How can one be robbed of a future increase in COL when they did not pay for the COL increase?
Funny thing is, even before the Tea Party, the GOP has been getting its way for at least 30 years. Now, we have a ruined economy, a tremendous deficit, and any sane effort to right the ship (i.e., return to even the tax policies of the 1980s or 1990s) is now considered socialism. The nerve of these people is unbelievable.
Explain how the GOP has been "getting its way for at least 30 years."
which deductions...most of the 'corporate tax deductions" are based on the FACT that they pay other taxes ELSEWHERE
Operating expenses, travel, employee expenses, bad debts, taxes (sales, etc.), equipment, interest, etc. are writeoffs.
