And it was the non-union workers.

"TheDC’s Matthew Boyle talked with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business about his story on the Obama administration’s role in directing operations at General Motors as the company was receiving federal bailout money."

It's a video:

UAW Bailout: White House Kneecapped White-collar Pensioners - By Henry Payne - Planet Gore - National Review Online
Quote:
As the administration rushed to complete GM’s bankruptcy last May, the question of Delphi was a pressing issue. Spun off by GM in 1999, Delphi was still intimately bound to its former parent through supply chains and union contracts. But when it came time to resolve Delphi pensioners, Delphi’s salaried workers were thrown overboard even as the UAW’s pensions were made whole.

That’s what over $7 million in campaign contributions (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:l-XC0VnUUa0J:www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Obamas-auto-policy-All-in-the-Democratic-family-44414452.html+uaw+contributions+and+the+democratic +party&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us - broken link) to Democrats buys you.

Was politics behind the government's decision to preserve the UAW's pensions?
Quote:
Why did retired salaried personnel of a former GM division, Delphi, receive a fraction of their promised pension benefits, while Delphi's retired hourly personnel, members of the United Auto Workers, got 100 percent, paid for in part by the "new" taxpayer-supported GM?
