President Obama explained to NBC News that the reason companies aren't hiring is not because of his policies, it's because the economy is so automated. ... "There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don't go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you're using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate."

He's not totally wrong you know, productivity exploded during the recession, mostly in 2009, to China's growth level.
But he's mostly wrong, because in Europe productivity has fallen, and they have the same unemployment rate than us.
Anti-business policies are the main reason.
That's what's so great about "green energy" - it's so inefficient that it requires far more workers to produce the same output. Why, imagine how prosperous we could be if we hired hordes of people to crank the turbines instead of using steam - our problems would be over!

I wouldn't put it past Skippy to come up with a new commission to study that idea.

It all goes back to his Marxist roots, where state "workers" toil away in jobs that require intensive manual labor, like shovel ready jobs. Only in his world, the state works hand-in-hand with labor unions, and those labor intensive jobs are held by union workers, who pay dues to the unions, which then gets passed along to democratic party politicians.
"I see a future where we train workers who make things here in the United States, and continue a important and honorable tradition of folks working with their hands, creating value, not just shuffling paper," he said Wednesday at Northern Virginia Community College, urging students to pack up and go to ... Detroit.
As he announced his public-private "Skills for America" partnership to train and credential 500,000 students for jobs in industries favored by the Obama administration, it bears looking at how at odds this approach is to both history and economic reality.
"We know it means building the infrastructure, the roads and bridges, and manufacturing new products here ... that create good jobs," Obama said. "Above all, it means training and educating our citizens to out-compete workers from other countries."
I just blame direct deposit and online plane ticket ordering for our economy's demise.
And what about stock brokers? We used to pay them $1000 to do something we can do ourselves in 30 seconds!
