When comparing apples to apples (i.e. same job, same work hours, same generaltion) women earn 8% more than men. This is not surprising since women also earn more college degrees than men. It doesn't fit the feminist agenda though so don't expect to see the New York Times reporting it anytime soon.
IF the woman is under 30, lives in an urban area, and is childless.
One can hardly say that is the norm for the female population in this country.
You forgot to add those parameters, I wonder why?
But if men were divorce with custody they would endup the same really. Anyone that is married knows that one perosn i the marriage is at a disadvanatge when it comes to careeer unless they want to place the childi others custody alot. Its what you sacrifice for having one and it often now effects even the career chioces of fathers in the modern world. As one said you really can't have it all.

Because a woman who takes leave to raise her child loses experience and seniority?
Because a woman sometimes likes to be a homemaker, losing seniority and having to start all over again?
Because a woman who lives in a rural area may be more conservative and not believe in the notion of a stranger raising their child?

good article. but i doubt it will quell the whining on the part of some.
victim status is as treasured a commodity as grandpa's gold pocketwatch.
Taking time off takes away from seniority as the female must relinquish her position in many cases. She re-enters the workforce years later in some cases for lower pay and not up to date in office protocol, etc. A childless woman under 30 has no such dilemma. It may be unfair, but life isn't fair and no one said a woman MUST have a child.

Make sense?
Of course it does, as a stand alone comment.
I fail to see what it has to do with the details in the study that I pointed out that the OP failed to include.

You mentioned that the demographics are skewed toward childless females under 30. I was pointing out that many career women over 30 have children, some after 30, and that demographic is going to be skewed downward, probably below men of that age group. The reasons for this were outlined earlier. Again, it's unfair but that's life. A woman can always stipulate to the man that he should stay home with the children. Of course, a lot of men refuse to take this role on so women are either forced to do it, or stay single and not have children.
