Funny how US soldiers being killed used to matter...

Now it seems the main news story is the Royal Wedding....

Quote:
Six U.S. soldiers were killed in action and at least 15 others wounded in Afghanistan earlier this week when they came under fire while on patrol in a remote and dangerous region close to the Pakistan border.
ABC News' Mike Boettcher was accompanying the soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division when the attack occurred in Kunar Province on March 29. They were patrolling close to the border when they were fired upon from three sides by Taliban fighters.

Thanks for reminding us that brave men and women are still in a war that many seem to have forgotten since Obama took office.

Does anyone know why we are still there?

to complete bush's mission, whatever that was... was it to get bin laden, or to distract us for Bush's utter intelligence failure we all call 9-11 now? I forget now.

I will take it for granted that you didn't hear Obama claim this one as his before he was coronated. You didn't even know that he took it on as his war because he was sure it would be ended swiftly. Actually, I feel sorry for all you "blame Bush" souls. You didn't even notice when Obama tried to apply the "surge" tactic with less than half the troops needed, did you?

ROB, why are we still there? I wish we had a mulligan on these wars, I would be totally against them.

We need to get out of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, period.

Every year and with every attack, I become more convinced that the anti-war left was right about Afganistan, even if for the wrong reasons. We shouldn't be there. If the people of Afganistan are willing to accept the brutal, Draconian rule of radical Islam, and the 13th century lifestyle that brings, it is not America's duty to protect them. It's not our responsibility to bring peace or prosperity to the Afgan people. There is nothing in Afganistan worth the life of an American soldier.

I find it painful to say it, but I was wrong. Bring the troops home.
