I give the lady credit for listening!! I doubt she really knew that disability payments would get cut. There is wasteful spending in the VA, and she was probably looking at how to eliminate some of that.

One point on my dis*cus*sion list was a $4.5 bil*lion pro*posal that would affect pay*ments made to our vet*er*ans. That dis*cus*sion point has received a lot of atten*tion and I have decided to remove it from con*sid*er*a*tion. The prob*lem of gov*ern*ment spend*ing must be solved, but not on the backs of our nation’s war heroes. I have always been a proud sup*porter of the United States mil*i*tary and I con*tinue to stand with our vet*er*ans. In the months ahead I look for*ward to work*ing with our Vet*er*ans Ser*vice Orga*ni*za*tions to ensure that we ful*fill our com*mit*ments to those who sac*ri*ficed so much in their brave ser*vice for our coun*try.”

Some news sources report that Bach*mann left in por*tions of her orig*i*nal pro*posal to freeze on Dis*abil*ity Com*pen*sa*tion and Vet*er*ans Pen*sions and cap VA Health Care spend*ing. How*ever, the lat*est ver*sion of Bachmann’s “dis*cus*sion list” (http://bachmann.house.gov/UploadedFiles/Potential_Spending_Cuts_02_04_11.pdf - broken link) does not include any cuts to the VA bud*get. In fact the last line now reads: “Pro*posal to reduce vet*er*ans ben*e*fits by $4.5 bil*lion elim*i*nated 2/04/11.”

This part of your quote tells me that the military article was written before 2-4-11 or someone didn't know but surely wants to stop Backmann at all cost. There is plenty of that going on these days.

Maybe she should look at things like the farm subsidies she benefits from first.

Which is where the problem begins, everyone's all for cutting spending until it affects them personally, support declines rapidly at that point.

The amazing thing is some here will still think she would be a good fit in the Whitehouse as President or VP. Just one more example of what it means to be a Compassionate Conservative.

So if I understand correctly, Bauchmann took a good hard look at the problem with her proposal, corrected it to the satisfaction of Veterans after listening and studying up on the problems her proposition could create, and you still want to punish her. Is that correct?

So she eliminated the part that you didn't like and you're STILL upset about her? What more could you want her to do other than putting a D next to her name?
