Ambitious indeed! Go Rand, go!
Proposing a federal budget as a junior Senator takes a pair. Obama is going to have a tough time dodging this in the SOTU address next week.

Will have to learn more about this, but your right, Ambitious it is, good for him, go Rand, Go!

You could tell the guy had what it took, the minute he opened his mouth.

There are very few rare gems, in that mountain of coal. That guy sparkles.

Most funding for schools comes from property taxes. The states are already providing the lion's share of the money.

Since the federal government has gotten involved in education, it has gone downhill. The actual problems with education have less to do with schools having enough money, and more to do with politics and culture.

Dump the Department of Education. It's not just expensive and ineffective - it's actually making things worse. Entire schools are now just "teaching to the test," so they can keep standardized federal test scores up and get more free money. The kids' educations come second to ensuring that the money keeps rolling in.

I have a beef with pensions and tenure, too, but I'll save that for a different thread.

Would it have sounded better if he had suggested a half million? How much would you want to reduce from that? A 250 billion cut will do much better than a 250 thousand cut.

It's called compromise, sometimes known as politics.
