After passing the house yesterday, the bill to extend tax cuts for only those making $250,000 a year or less hits the senate. Though expected to be instantly filibustered by the republicans, the democrats are being the bigger people and have reached across the isle with a second proposal that would extend the tax cuts to everyone making under $1,000,000 a year, otherwise 99.5% of americans. The ball now is in the republican's court and if they filibuster the democratic compromise, this will truly show the right are out to only support one group of people, the wealthiest of the wealthy.
Although I don't think the tax cuts should expire this is a very good compromise. The repubs would be out of line to not vote it in even without the level being raised imo.
I did turn over some of my wealth to the government today. I went to the local mom and pop hardware store to get a few things for the house. I paid sales tax...
Yet another fine example of a liberal that doesn't have the ability to distinguish between the FEDERAL government, and STATE / LOCAL governments.
Newsflash, T: This thread is about FEDERAL taxes. The sales tax you paid at the hardware store has NOTHING to do with this conversation.

I started this thread and explained to another misguided individual my contribution to this great country that they felt I would never do.
The discussion going on is the highly important tax rate bill and how the democrats are literally standing on their chairs reaching across the table asking the republicans to just unlock their crossed "NO" arms and shake hands to accept a very generous compromise, or set in stone the fact that the right care for nothing else but the elite.
either let them ALL continue, or let them ALL expire
enough with the class war fare and DISCRIMINATION from the liberals
That's fine as long as you don't mind the discrimination of large corporations and investors are making by building factories and making investments in emerging market nations and the profits they are making in the international financial markets.
After all why would you invest in a country with an aging population, a shrinking middle class, rising poverty levels, a collapsed real estate market, and deteriorating educational systems and infrastructure?

If you think making $250k is "the wealthiest of the wealthy", you are delusional.
And it's not a tax cut. It's a tax INCREASE!
