Not only is the rate of job growth far too anemic to offset ongoing job losses, but Obama's war against the middle class highlighted (lowlighted?) by Bernanke's ongoing destruction of the US dollar (which is guaranteed to send grocery, commodity and gasoline prices soaring, in spite of those hysterically absurd CPI numbers which suggest otherwise) has no end in sight.

It's very obvious that neither of them has a clue about what to do given Obama's ignorance in seeing the relationship between tax increases and federal tax revenues; tax increases always produce a decline in tax revenue from both corporations and individuals, as Reagan, JFK & GWB already knew when they cut taxes across the board, and tax revenues skyrocketed.

The fact that Bernanke wants inflation is yet more proof that Obama is out to destroy the middle class; signing a minimum-wage law when the unmployment rate among African-American youths is in the vicinity of 25% is flat-out unconscionable.

But, But, isn't it the GOP who refuse to extend benefits for those unemployed lazy bums who won't take ALL those jobs that have been created by the wealthy due to the tax breaks they received?

Don't fool yourself into believing the GOP is coming to save the day!

You know for sure that nobody has received any kind of tax break in this deal because they haven't passed a law to that effect. They plan to give us the tax cut for two years and that won't allow businessmen or new entrepreneurs to make a break toward employing new people. I think that you really believe all the words of those Dems on their way out of Congress, don't you?

Roysoldboy........I don't believe the Dems or the GOP, in fact, they are one & the same to me.

I just do not believe the GOP is going to do anything to save the day like some posters here on CD believe.
You mean they are going to 'continue' the tax breaks correct? Are these not the very same tax breaks that we were told would help to create jobs with the trickle down theory?

Why would anyone want to destroy the Middle Class? What does that mean?

Now look at the last comparable recession, 1982, and the 17 months following the official end of December 1982. Unemployment ends at 10.8% and 17 months later in May 1984, the rate is 7.4% - a more than 3% drop in less than 18 months. During that same period we netted 5.3 million jobs!

Here are the first 6 quarters of GDP growth:

1Q 1983 5.1%
2Q 1983 9.3%
3Q 1983 8.1%
4Q 1983 8.5%
1Q 1984 8.0%
2Q 1984 7.1%

Growth remained above average (3.0%) until the 2nd quarter of 1986.

Now the first 6 quarters of GDP under Obama:

3Q 2009 1.6%
4Q 2009 5.0%
1Q 2010 3.7%
2Q 2010 1.7%
3Q 2010 2.5%
4Q 2010 2.8% (projected)

So far there have been only 2 quarters of above average growth, the rest are below average. Compare that to 1983 where GDP growth was double and even triple the average rate. Unemployment can only come down and jobs can only be created if we get GDP growth up.
Great facts, Frank. Our current miserable recovery can be explained by the anti-prosperity agenda of Obama/Pelosi/Reid. If we can get that *****storm shoveled out of the road, we have a chance to invigorate the economy.

We are a country of 300 million people, and eventually jobs will come back, although 0bama has been doing a great job keeping them away. Here we are, a few weeks before the Bush tax rates expire, and 0bama has done his best to do nothing about them.

Keep in mind that these numbers don't reflect the under-employed, those who have fallen off the unemployment dole, or those whose job losses were not covered by unemployment insurance.
or anyone who failed to find a job after graduating college, or those who stopped looking because they know nothing's changed, or those who voluntarily got out of the military to save their own lives...
