time after time, i ask the wikileaks cheerleaders if there is anything that the US government should be able to keep secret or confidential, and they disappear like a puff of smoke.
They should be allowed to keep anything secret that's constitutional and abides by treaties we entered into.
But that's in an ideal world.
The sad fact is they are abusing the law and being unethical so it all must come out ( except for what the Espionage Act prevents) to expose their shady dealings.

It's real simple.......STOP BEING EVIL.
thanks for at least trying, padcrasher. that's more than anyone else has managed to do so far.
a] what, amongst the released documents, was unconstitutional?
b] how do you define something as nebulous as 'EVIL'?
c] is there anything in the constitution that would not permit your tax returns, or the names of foreign spies, being exposed?
The US government is so big it cannot control it's people, nor its access.
This is the THIRD time documents have made their way to wikileaks.
The US Diplomatic Leaks: A Superpower's View of the World - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International
"Around half of the cables that have been obtained aren't classified and slightly less, 40.5 percent, as classified as "confidential." Six percent of the reports, or 16,652 cables, are labelled as "secret" and of those, 4,330 are so explosive that they are labelled "NOFORN," meaning access should not be made available to non-US nationals. Taken together, the cables provide enough raw text to fill 66 years' worth of weekly SPIEGEL magazines."
And a nice summary from that article:
"On the whole, the cables from the Middle East expose the superpower's weaknesses. Washington has always viewed it as vital to its survival to secure its share of energy reserves, but the world power is often quickly reduced to becoming a plaything of diverse interests. And it is drawn into the animosities between Arabs and Israelis, Shiites and Sunnis, between Islamists and secularists, between despots and kings. Often enough, the lesson of the documents that have now been obtained, is that the Arab leaders use their friends in Washington to expand their own positions of power."
What I do find interesting is that they are all focusing in the US on the act of the documents being released and not talking much on the content.
Thankfully there are foreign sites discussing the actually contents of those cables.
"The Press was protected so that it could bare the secrets of the government and inform the people. Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people."

Cable reveals US behind airstrike that killed 21 children in Yemen
41 local residents killed, including 14 women, 21 children, and 14 alleged al-Qaeda. That means 65% of the killed are collateral damage. Pretty bad average for a laser guided "we can stick it up a camel's ass" bomb.
I wonder if this could cause hatred of the USA? Having kids in your own village blown to bits?
Nah. I'm sure the realize that were doing this for their own good. And Americans are "deeply saddened" by the accidental loss of life.
(This last part is really important to them to know)
