Looks like since cap-and-tax failed to garner support over the growing fact that AGW is a complete fallacy, they're now trying to concoct another way to redistribute wealth to the poor nations from the rich ones
Apparently the UN fails to recognize that Robin Hood was still a thief. Does it not realize that all the medical assistance/drugs/food/humanitarian aid, etc... is already a "tax" being paid to the 3rd world nations?

Who's "they"? Naturally, Fox attaches to this article a photo of Obama, but no one is fooled by that crude old trick, right?
"[T]he tax's supporters... include unions, environmental groups, Comic Relief, UNICEF and others in a multinational coalition".
In reality this idea is full of flaws and has been rejected by everyone who's looked at it, except its own supporters. It's in the news today because its backers sent a letter to world leaders attending the G20 meeting.
The best the Fox article could do to try to tie the Obama Admin to it was to add, at the bottom, that Obama and Geithner each have "hinted", here and there, at "[encouraging] world leaders to pursue policies that will help poorer nations." No proof that the US ever seriously considered this tax, but that doesn't matter.
So other than associating a photo of Obama with the scary words "Robin Hood" and "tax," there's no purpose to this garden variety non-story. It just serves as a little morning jolt from the sheep prod... just keeping you in line.
A packet of seeds and a shovel would go further in these countries then a check written to their leader.
Poster countries are Haiti and Zimbabwe. The world has poured billions into those 2 countries over the years in "aid" and where did it go ? Their leaders lived opulent lives while their citizens ate dirt and drank contaminated water.
But it seems our administration (Obama and Geithner) are somewhat in favor of a global tax to address "global" challenges. Why don't these guys work on America's problems first ?

Way past time for the US to get out of the UN.
ugh, Why do conservatives love to take from the poor & middle class (cheap labor/starvation wages) and give to the rich (Bush tax cuts)? Why do conservatives want to leave the UN so that USA itself becomes a Third World Nation? Cui bono, who benefits? "Divide and conquer", the uber wealthy mantra, so that the poor get poorer, which makes the rich even richer. "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Don't give them money. Give them products like farm equipment and the tools that are manufactured here and our Americans make a living at the same time. Spread a little back to the American worker.
Give them stuff we make here that our government pays us to produce!!
If we are going to be forced to help, lets help, but not with give away tax dollars we have to work hard for and have no idea who's pocket that money is being deposited.
