Corrections are a good thing. They return the status quo. They are the natural outcome of mans feeble attempts to re engineer his circumstances, and the laws of economics.
What is truly amazing is the perfection with which they function. The outcome of actions, changes the psyche of the people who are affected by those actions. This is especially true of the younger generations.
Younger people growing up today will not have the affinity and trust in government that previous generations indulged in. They will mistrust a government that allowed their future to be robbed from them while they were too young to defend themselves.
Their reality will be that government is the problem, and incapable of being the solution. That government needs to be controlled by the people, and not the contrary. They will live the experience of the sins of the fathers being visited upon the sons.
This will set the stage for a culture that understands the value of self dependency. That will distain entitlements and encourage personal responsibility. The pendulum can only swing so far in one direction, at which point it must change directions.
