A couple of months ago, it was reported the War in Afghanistan was the longest war in US history. October will mark our 9th year of involvment.
I also hear a lot of pundits who were for the war in it's inception are now speaking against it. What are your thoughts on the War in Afghanistan? Have they changed since the war began?
Not that I was for it and NOW against it, its that it is just time to get out.
After almost a decade we have done everything possible to give the people a chance to govern themselves.
The U.S. should no longer be the WPD (World Police Department)
We went in initially because that's where Al Qaeda and Bin Laden was. Actually, I think we should have bombed the **** out of them like they did in desert Fox, and not put any boots on the ground.
I guess I fall into the 'was for it now against it' category. After the horror of 9/11 I was certainly for going after the *%&!@ in Afghanistan.
Yet, after our Air Force and soldier's went in and kicked butt and we installed that guy as president (mid 2002?) is when I started thinking "great, now get out", merely based on the history of failed attempts to actually subjugate the Afghans.
Some Republicans, though not all, were for this war when Bush started it, but now that Obama is president they're against it.
How hypocritical is that?
