But he added: "Nevertheless, if Scottish authorities [conclude] that Megrahi must be released from Scottish custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer, which we strongly oppose."

Don't hold your breath. Most of these guys get their panties all in a bunch if there is a sniff of government corruption, but when it is business corruption that is all just a natural byproduct of capitalism. Get off their backs, just let the free markets do their job.
