The Austrailan and the Sunday Times, surprise, surprise are both own by... drum roll, no other than by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, the same News Corp as... drum roll... FauxNews.

The Guardian:

In it [the letter], the deputy head of the US embassy in London, Frank LeBaron, said the US believed Megrahi should remain in Greenock jail because of the seriousness of his conviction for killing 270 passengers and crew, and 11 Lockerbie townspeople, by bombing Pan Am flight 103 in 1988.

But he added: "Nevertheless, if Scottish authorities [conclude] that Megrahi must be released from Scottish custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer, which we strongly oppose."

Don't hold your breath. Most of these guys get their panties all in a bunch if there is a sniff of government corruption, but when it is business corruption that is all just a natural byproduct of capitalism. Get off their backs, just let the free markets do their job.

Murder is perfectly ok as long as profits are to be had.

The way things are going, BP would kill you if it could make 50 grand on the deal.
