Here's another case of an off-duty Police Officer who gets into a dispute and kills an unarmed citizen. It seems incidents such as this are starting to happen more frequently, resulting in death or serious injury to citizens and sometimes the officer's own family members or loved ones.

With so many recent events such as this, it seems the odds are higher of an off-duty Police Officer killing or hurting an innocent victim in a personal dispute rather than a real criminal.

I think they should be just on the fact if they were to run across someone they locked up.

But this cop broke so many laws it's crazy to think they were a cop.

Don't believe for an instant that cops are some special sort of law abiding citizens off duty. Hell some aren't while on duty. Funny thing I got pulled over for having expired tags and didn't even realize it. Cop gives me the song and dance and goes back to his car and I'm getting pissed waiting for my ticket and who knows how much it will cost and the cop says you know I got expired tags too havn't made it around to getting down and taking care of it and off I went. They aren't all nazi's either is my point I guess.

Many police officers carry a second concealed weapon that is personal. So even if you take away their duty firearm odds are they have another one...

Was there more to the story than what I read? The article in the link is only like 4 paragraphs long....

No way. My neighbor has a restraining order against a policeman (ex-boyfriend).

I am not sure what this has to do with carrying off duty. This appears to be an issue of an officer that was not qualified to be an officer in the first place. Officers do not relinquish their responsibility when they are off duty and in fact, many departments require the officer carry at all times.

Agreed. Patrol cops tend to get fairly well-known in a community. It wouldn't be far-fetched for a gang-member to go after one if he thought he saw him unarmed.

Of course they should carry off duty. It doesn't matter if it's a department weapon or not.
