Le’Veon Bell has 100+ rush yards and 2+ rush TD in 3 games in his career
You don't really have to dig for things like that to prove the point.

Just take the stats, all the stats, and you can see there is no real upgrade that is worth that extra money. I'll say the same thing when its time to pay Conner.

I realize its a story, people are drilled to make it a conversation to fill air time and distract the masses but..

compare the first 6 games

Laveons first season as starter
102 attempts/339 yds/3.3 ypc/4 TD, 20 rec/186 yd/9.3

James first season as starter
103 attempts/453 yds/4.4 ypc/7 TD, 27 rec/257/9.9

They will bring up games where Conner only had 8 attempts and didnt get 100 yards or really even close.
Bells career he started 62 Regular season games. 43 of those games he din't get 100 yards.

19 games with 100+ yards
20 games with less than 60 yards

We’re not comparing 1st seasons. We’re comparing who’s better right now and who gives the team the best chance to win a championship, and that’s Bell.

Bell is gone after this season so money no longer has anything to do with it.

Conner will likely have a chance to prove he can handle the workload of a full season as a starting RB, but when Bell comes back Conner is going to be the backup.

interesting, because the last 6 games its even worse, stat wise. Bell has 0 yards. So 'right now' I guess..Conner is better.

But even last year, 2017 its pretty similar. Bell got fed a little more but Conner is on pace for

Conner 1132/4.4ypc/17.5 TD - 642 yards receiving

2017 Bell 1291/4.02/10TD - 655 yards receiving

less carries, more effective.,

they need to fill air, there are a million sports channels/websites and its their job. you aren't the only one brainwashed so don't feel bad.

I get the feel good story, try hard mentality, cheaper salary, etc..., that yinzers love to tout, and also the feeling of being let down by Bell not being here, but you’re assuming that Conner is going to hold up through the season and put up those numbers.

The majority of Conners yards came against the Browns. 192 of them. He hasn’t been anything special since then and nobody who knows the game truly believes that Conner is better than Bell right now, and when Bell comes back and unless he gets hurt, Conner will be backing him up.

I think we are in agreement and I just noticed that stat posted on NFL.com and it made me realize that Conner also seems to find the endzone more often than Bell in addition to gaining a similar amount of rushing yards. Conner has also proven to be an excellent receiver and this was one of Bell's arguments about why he was so valuable. Bell is trying to sell himself as the best running back in the league and at least a number 2 receiver. I believe that Bell has to report by November 1 in order to receive credit for this season so I think he will report at some point. With that being said, I think Bell has really fumbled this holdout situation and I'm not sure where he goes from here. Conner has proven to be an excellent value and I think Bell would help the Steelers win now, but as time goes on without him reporting he might be a liability. I don't think it is very easy to join an NFL team that has developed a certain level of cohesion mid-season without some miscues or issues and the longer Bell holds out the more rust he will have to knock off.

If you’re going to pick and choose stats I’m going to point out the most obvious one which is 192 yards against Cleveland.

I don’t need to listen to what Desmond Howard says. I can watch them both and tell that Bell is the obviously better back, which is why he’ll be taking over the position when he gets back.

Bell will likely be playing in 2 weeks and will get paid exactly what he wants next season barring serious injury.

Rust or not which is likely, he’s going to be the top RB and he’s going to get paid in the offseason. He’s played the holdout perfectly.

So when factoring Bells, you take out the 200 yard games hes had against Cleveland..when they were a lot worse than they are this year?

Or are you saying that its a GOOD thing that Bell sucked against Cleveland last year? 47 total yards in a very close game.

If you keep making no sense this could get very fun.

Games? Conner had 1 game against Cleveland this season which is where a huge part of his numbers came from. He then went all but silent for 2 games and has played decent since.

Thinking Conner is better than Bell is unrealistic. I’m sure yinzers all over are going to be screaming at their tv’s when Bell comes back and is the starting RB, but him being the starter makes the most sense, if winning takes importance over a feel good try hard story that is.
