I have family outside of Harrisburg. It's realistically a 3.5-4 hour drive to there. And another 1.5-2 hours from Harrisburg to Philly.
The turnpike is like the Autobahn. You can go as fast as you want. Troopers only tend to pull people off just east of the Breezewood exit.

You're thinking of places like California, Washington, Minnesota, and Massachusetts.

Yeah, I grew up in Fairfield County. It would have taken around two and a half hours from where I grew up to get to Boston presuming no traffic, which isn't the worst, but NYC was like half that distance.

I do dimly remember going on some school trips to Boston as a child, but once older I only stayed in Boston if I was crashing at someone's house that night.

Eh, that's news to me and the ticket I got on the bridge between the 376 and 28 exits...

Worse than Pennsylvania were Wyoming (April 23), Colorado (April 24), Oregon (April 24), North Dakota (April 26), District of Columbia (April 26), Washington (April 27), Wisconsin (April 27), Maryland (April 28), Rhode Island (April 28), Illinois (April 29), California (April 30), Minnesota (April 30), Massachusetts (May 5), New York (May 11), New Jersey (May 12) and Connecticut (May 21).

Among states with at least 8,000,000 population, Pennsylvania was worse than North Carolina (April 16), Georgia (April 17), Texas (April 17), Ohio (April 19) and Florida (April 20), tied with Michigan (April 22) and Virginia (April 22), and better than Illinois (April 29), California (April 30), New York (May 11) and New Jersey (May 12).

Also worth noting is that the Tax Freedom Day for the United States at large is April 24, so Pennsylvania comes out slightly ahead there. The Tax Foundation examined individual income, corporate income, sales, excise, property and estate/inheritance taxes in every state when compiling the list, and came to the conclusion that Pennsylvania has a slightly higher-than-average tax burden among all states, an average tax burden among heavily-populated states, and (seemingly) a much lower tax burden than Pennsylvanians think.
Using your own source...

https://taxfoundation.org/publicatio...rden-rankings/

... PA is the 15th most tax burdensome state in the US. At least the more burdensome states such as Maryland, California, Minnesota, New York, etc have something to show for it such as good roads and better infrastructure.

Why the 8,000,000 qualifier? Anyone can make a point by adding qualifiers like that. I bet PA is the most tax friendly state with a population between 12,500,000 and 13,000,000.

Pittsburgh will never be able to compete with Phoenix in 1000 years don't even bother with that comparison. It's one of the cities that companies in California are moving to, to escape the CA taxes and so on.

You're missing out bro I never have a lack of things to do but it's a little easier for me being only 2 hours from Columbus and still close to Pittsburgh too.
If you only go hang out in hipster urban areas you're going to be pretty limited imo I would try and expand your horizons a little bit and hit some outdoor stuff, tourist attractions, etc.

From Pittsburgh you can fly to NYC very easily it's just not as cheap as it was 10 years ago, but what is? If you do it right you can still get a round trip ticket for a little over 200 bucks though.

I was in Amish country in Ohio for the first time not long ago it was something different. Those deplorables make some pretty good wine.

You only have to talk about politics if you choose to it's like people that want to go to into a bar just to start a fight with someone....and Erie is borderline Trump country btw..I was just there a couple of weeks ago incidentally. Unfortunately it was right after the snowstorm and it wasn't 80 degrees.

Yes. It is. Have you been there? I walked the entire length of the trail around the Presque Isle Peninsula in 2015. It was an amazing experience. Then you have Waldameer, the zoo, the Philharmonic, minor-league hockey and baseball, and lots of shopping/dining options (they have TWO Wegman's stores AND Tim Hortons!) Not bad for a city of <100,000. Traffic is always a breeze, too, even during the height of tourist season. Another good thing about Erie is that it is day-trippable to Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Cleveland.

There is a Tim Horton's in Washington, PA a little down the road from Tanger Outlets and the Meadow's Casino too. I still don't understand why they haven't tried to come into Allegheny County at all. It's not unusual at all for Pittsburghers to travel to Canada and Canadians to visit here so I'd imagine the brand is known a lot better here than other American cities they aren't in.

Mostly higher than Pittsburgh, but not universally so.
After living in almost all of those cities, I have a hard time believing those numbers.
