Old North Park Boathouse Renovated Into New Café « CBS Pittsburgh

My wife and I just came back from dinner at this new bistro. Great location, great view.

Hard to believe it took this long for someone to see the market.

The boathouse is a pretty kewl building. About a thousand years ago when I turned 50 my wife rented the second floor out for my b-day party. When we were setting up we notice a big chunk of plaster had fallen from the ceiling. The park called on Monday informing us we would be charged for damages. I said, Hey, that was there when we got there and I have the photos to prove it. If it was my 30th you would have a case, but everyone at the party was close to 50, we can't jump that high anymore! So I hear the secy talk to the County Cop who opened up the place for us, and in the back ground I hear him say, Yeah, they were pretty old. Case closed.

But for all you City types, take a trip to North Park, rent a kayak, hike the trails, and have a brew at the Boathouse.

Works for me!

That's pretty much what they did. We were there again today since some Philly people showed up, they loved it. What a great view.

Now why would us East Enders leave the rustic-yet-urbane comfort of Frick Park for that giant mud pit you Northern Yinzers call a lake?

I jag, I jag, I've always meant to check North Park out. Might make a trip over to Toronto while I'm up there.

They spent WAY too much money a few years ago to spruce things up. But it IS beautiful. I can see it from my basement office and drive through it at least twice a day.

Seriously, the restaurant will be a big hit, they did it right.

In fact, I'm meeting Hopes there tomorrow when both of our spouses are out of town, if ya know what I mean. Ed's Beds on Route 8, here we come.

Scandalous.. are you two going to order room service and make a blanket fort?

(Seriously, that would be totally kinky.)

Darn. My husband is getting back into town tomorrow morning. I'll have to take a rain check on the blanket fort.
