Get off at Edgewood/Swissvale, turn right onto Braddock Avenue, take that about a mile or so up to Penn Avenue, turn left and after about a mile or so, right before bakery square, you turn left onto Fifth Avenue which will take you right into Oakland

Get off at Wilkinsburg, take Penn to 5th Ave.

Really, there is no "easy" way, particularly when the tunnel is closed and thousands of cars are crowded on to the alternative of city streets.

If those routes get really jammed, I'd get off at Edgewood and take the back way through Swissvale and down Commercial Ave. This route connects directly with Forward Ave and will get you right back on the parkway beyond the tunnel.

I don't think the Squirrel Hill tunnel is closed this weekend, or at least it wasn't when I drove through last night.

How long is this supposed to take? Why do these projects take years to complete?

For this weekend, there is no closure - I checked the cameras and all the lanes are open.

Watch out for single lanes late at night and very early morning:

I can't find the dates for the next full closures, but I understand that there will only be 8 per year.

If PennDot could shut down the highway for a month and work day and night, it'd be done quickly. Since they can't, it drags out.
