The Post-Gazette has a beta version of their new website publicly visible at Pittsburgh Post-Gazette BETA.

From a graphic design perspective it's much better than the current one but it's seems pretty buggy right now. Glad to see that they're doing something to update their site though, it's been terrible for a long time.

I thought I heard that they were bringing back the Pittsburgh Press for that. Really.

It was a perfectly good website before the current one, which only made it harder to read. I wish they'd just go back to it.

The text under the logo is not legible. They need to change that font, if they want to keep it at that size.

I think all these papers should model after New York Times, the paper is meant to be accessible, and easy to read.

The colored buttons look like the terror threat levels. I don't like it at all.

They do have a daily e-version of the Press now. It comes out at 4pm weekdays. You can subscribe to it, or it is free if you already subscribe to the print edition.

As for the beta site, the feedback engine has bugs too and wouldn't let me vote on an existing feedback idea! To me, the worst thing about their current site (and the beta) is that they split up articles so you have to do multiple clicks to get through the article and to get back where you were.

Yup, the reason why they do this is to increase ad revenue. It's quite shady when the content of articles is secondary to an onslaught of ads.

Wow, thought that you were kidding but it is true. What a strange thing to do, how many people even remember the name Pittsburgh Press?
