i've never boarded my dog but i take her to the golden bone for grooming and i really like the place.

it's weird, misty pines makes my dog edgy as well! i have no idea what it is. i took her to training classes for a while but they were more into physical corrections than i am comfortable with. maybe that has something to do with it, but i'm not sure. after the class i took her into their agility course and she got much more barky with the other dogs than she ever has been at any other dog park.

it is a really lovely facility, that's for sure.

as for group play, i'm not sure how i'd feel about having my dog playing with other strange dogs without me around. she does fine with other dogs 99% of the time, and i regularly take her to dog parks, but i just wouldn't feel comfortable trusting someone else who doesn't know her and is trying to watch numerous other dogs to make judgments about whether she's in a good or a bad situation. my dog doesn't start fights, but she also won't back away from one. i think it's an individual thing, and i don't think it's fair to say someone is a bad dog owner because they personally wouldn't put their dog in that situation. my dog is not your dog, and not everyone gets a chance to socialize their dog from puppyhood.

I have two dogs, a GSD and a mix. Both are larger, more physical (though not aggressive) dogs and both love Misty Pines. I've never had problems with them though I notice that they seem to have a lot more large breeds than small breeds there.

I also used Camp Bow Wow, off of the Parkway West. They have web cams where you can watch your dog at play (if you have a lot of free time on your hands). They seemed to be ok for day sitting but I had some reservations about overnight. As I said, the dogs were not aggressive but the mix was very territorial, especially in her crate and with her food. I told both places not to go into the crate with her or try to remove her food (common sense, really), and when I went back to Camp Bow Wow to get her I found out that the staff had failed to pass on the word to the other shift.

There weren't any incidents but they did mention that she got growly when they entered the cage and when they checked, that information had never made it into her record. At Misty Pines they never had a problem with her.

My dog loved the Petsmart Petshotel in Monroeville. He would get excited whenever we were even on the road to go there. Haven't had that experience with any other kennel.

They always seemed to do a good job with a clean facility, knew him and me by name. Price was on par with camp bow wow, etc.
