we dont shoot much in the way of flowers but with it being fall and all we went to the local botanical gardens.

i used the nikon d300 with tamaron 90mm macro, marilyn used the d80 and her standard 18-200mm

These are so beautiful, I like how the background is blurry in some shots.

its done by controlling how wide the lens opening is and the focal length of the lens you use. the wider a lens can open the less depth of field it has and the blurrier the background can be.....

it helps lift things out of the background when you know how to do it.
