I work on a boat and was recently sent on the Ohio River. I normally work on the Lower Mississippi and have never seen anything like this so I was facinated and had to take pictures.... This is the Ohio River, just below Pittsburg.
This is unusual is'nt it? To have a quick thaw and ice jam in early February?
Your pictures are amazing, as always, MinuteMan.
It's actually about the right time of the year for ice jams in Buffalo. It's to get worse, by Wednesday we're looking at an unseasonable 50 degrees, I'll be ready with my camera though.
I remember one year when the temps didn't get high enough and dynamite had to be used to break the ice and let the creek's waters flow it down stream. Perhaps I'll have a chance to catch the boat used in breaking up the ice on Lake Erie. It's an awesome sight to see.
The ducks don't seem to be displaced from the ice jams much.
