Tonight I have drank entirely way too my beer to contribute to this thread. In fact, my weekend is spent, as I am off on a road trip to Tn. to pick up my eldest daughter. Perhaps there will be some color change (fall) there to catch my eye. If not, well, when I get home I will drink less and get the tripod out!!
What's the tripod for? I saw shepsmom mention it too.
Slow shutter speeds, required for night time shots, need a tripod to keep the camera from shaking while the shutter is open.
I've just got a cheap tripod and I have to use it AND the timer feature. My images will have shake even if I have the tripod and have the shutter open for a long time.
Using the timer, I can frame and position the shot, push the button, remove my hand and everything gets stable before the shutter opens.
I really hate carrying a tripod around and believe it keeps me from taking as many photos as I might otherwise. But perhaps if I used it more, I could take less photos and have more turn out! I have yet to tackle this assignment, but I'm feeling the challenge.
I too am lazy about carrying a tripod. The only time I'll carry one is when I'm taking photos of waterfalls.
I didn't use a tripod for this shot. The last light in the sky while I was watering the neighbour's garden. It's corny but it's a night shot. I used fill flash to light up the corn.
