Thanks MJ. It is just a simple shot but just caught my eye. When I looked at it later, what caught my eye more was the grass to the left. Not sure why, but just looks real cool. And you were right about not much difference in lens'
My wife and I took a ton of photos on our trip, she with her d40 and cheap lens, and me with my d80 and real nice Nikon 70-300
There was not a whole lot of difference in most pics. except in certain light, then you can really tell. I can tell them apart ...but its tough.
it all depends on what you are shooting as to the differences.. most of the landscape shots or object shots we do our camera set ups look identical.
but then we will go to a museum or to the zoo and the faster lenses pay off.
even so there are ways around having a slower lens..
we went to the ny botanical gardens last weekend and never had so many nice keepers when shooting macro... we started to learn to use the flash to freeze the movement of things and we ended up with so many photos that were good.
over on a macro forum i posted a few and everyone wanted to know what lens we used to get the sharpness we did,... the answere was it wasnt the lens as much as it was getting 3 stops difference between the subject and background so the flash would overpower and freeze things.
if its really bright out then it wont work as its just impossble to get that difference before you hit the max sync speed of the camera.. ill post how to do this if anyones interested.
