Hi, I am Mike and I am an addict!

Canon EOS 5DMlll
Canon EOS 50D
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
EF 100-400mm f/4.4-5.6L IS USM
Many more prime and zoom non L lenses
Several Canon Flashes
God only knows whats in the old camera bags. An old EOS 3 that is still as great as the day I bought it

I started over 50 years ago with an old Leica. My first new SLR was a Miranda D and never looked back. Bought my 1st Canon when the EOS A2E came out. I loved the eye focus and, at that time, Canon lenses were by far the best (I still feel they are the best) and I needed the IS technology.

I waited until the EOS 10D came out to go digital. Then instead of upgrading the camera, I focused (pardon the pun) on "L" glass. Then moved up to the 50D and finally went back to full frame this year with the 5DMlll.

Who knows what comes next???????

LOL...

Camera manufacturers sure make it easy to fall in the equipment trap.
I only have what I need now, because I don't have a place to store too much for one, and second because if I did have too much it would be like with clothing...I would never know what to wear...I'd be sitting in the closet for three hours trying to figure out what to wear. Same with gear.

There was a time at the begging of digital when I used to carry all my stuff everywhere I went "in case" I might need it, but once my back started talking to me "pain language" I stopped, and now I carry one camera, and one lens, and I'll have to figure it out.

I think about it like this:
If I keep spending money on gear, I won't have money to go out and shoot...so I shoot with what I have which is fine and not broken yet, and I can travel with the money I might have and actually shoot.

I love reading about new gear and at one time, I spent quite a bit on it. Over the years, I have found that waiting a year or more for new gear to become 'old' has given me a good amount of buying power on the used market. Then, if I don't like it or become bored, I resale it with little to no loss...sort of like renting the gear for free

I too waited until the Canon 10D debuted to go digital and the only reason for me not being an gear addict is that I have not won a lottery. I'd have the works from Canon, Nikon, Mamiya, and Hassleblad. Those would suffice except for the Lear Jet to get around in.
