I guess one might argue that a painter is cheating when he paints a tree and doesn't include the broken branch - the car and cow that are near that same tree???
I just do not understand the different views of 'logic" that are being presented here on each side of the fence.
Photography is about producing a "Final Image"!
When have you ever heard of any painter - listing all the different brushes -pencils and brand(s) of paint used??
but in photography - the exposure - the lens - the other settings are pure B.S. !! they are not necessary one bit.
I could write a book about this topic - It would be a total waste of time.
It often took Ansel Adams as many as 30 sheets of paper to create one final print!
It depends on what the image's purpose is; if it succeeds, then it's a probably good photo, if it fails, it probably isn't.
Well, an image's purpose may have to do with "imaging", or an artwork. Either way, I can see potential for good or bad photographs, either due to equipment, conditions or the photographer, or any combination of the same.
