Thanks kdog, I wish the moon would have been a little higher in the sky, when I took the photo it was still quite low in the sky, where atmospheric distortion is at its worst.
Ok I know this is a lame moon shot. But if you enlarge the thumbnail...just to the right of the moon is Mars. Mars had just re-appeared, after a 45 minute eclipse behind the moon this evening.

ok, from someone who just enjoys photography, and has really no idea... Are those close up crater shots possible with a regular digital at all?
if so, how? if not, what type of camera is needed? and how do you get them? (the shots that is)
