That is a rocking shot, pwright! I might have made a blend of two exposures to preserve the highlights in the moon. Something to think about for next time.
Last night I noticed a lady in the grocery store parking lot taking a photo with her phone of the full moon. When I got home I grabbed my XTi and my tripod and headed outside to see what I could come up with. I messed around with shutter speed and ISO and took a few photos. I came inside and pulled them up on the computer, found what settings looked best and went back out and shot a few more.
Found that 1/200 shutter speed with 400 ISO gave me the best image on this particular night.
Attached is the best of my photos from last night.
This morning I found this thread, and I can't wait until the next clear night to try again. Will be setting a calendar reminder for the next full moon so I be ready.
Thanks to all that have posted, and taken the time to explain their own success for rookies, with low end equipment, like me.
Great shot! It was a gorgeous moon.
I was all ready to get a shot of that brilliant Wolf Moon last night, when the clouds rolled in here.
