The theme of the photo you enter in the "Theme" contest is determined by the winner of the last contest. Your entry photograph must have been taken within 30 days of the date you submitted it.
To be able to stay on a monthly schedule, the last day for submitting entry photographs will be five days before the end of the month, ie, if the month ends on the 30th then photos must be submitted no later than the 25th. If the month ends on the 31st then photos must be submitted no later than the 26th. Etc...
The poll will be opened the day after last day for submitting entry photographs.
Only users who have been registered on City-Data over 30 days and who have at least one valid post may enter the contest or vote on the contest (Rule added Feb 3, 2012)
One photograph per contest and one vote per member.
All photographs must have been taken within 30 days of the date you submitted them.
Please add the title of your photo and any information that you want to share. We do enjoy knowing and the title is placed in the Poll.
You have 90 minutes to alter/edit your post. If you need help with the title or information, just DM me Poncho_NM and I will fix it for you.
Do not use the entry thread for discussions. There is a separate thread to be used for discussions.
If you have an suggestions, you may DM me Poncho_NM . Thanks and good luck!

The theme I've chosen is "Abandoned." Your photo can depict an abandoned building or vehicle, a toy left in the yard, a sandwich left out in the rain, an empty parking lot, a neglected gravesite. Use your imagination!
There's an entire thread here which is dedicated to this theme, if you need more ideas.
.
Lets begin posting!

This little motel was part of one of the very few pre-Civil Rights era African-American resorts along the SC coast. Supposedly, in its prime, it was a frequent stopover for Black musicians as they traveled between NYC and Miami, including Billie Holliday, Duke Ellington, and Charlie "Bird" Parker, lured by free room & board in exchange for an evening's jam session. It lasted until 1954, when Hurricane Hazel destroyed much of our coastal structures. Today, it sits abandoned, undoubtedly awaiting a developer's bulldozer whenever the next building boom rolls around.

These elevators were built 30 years ago in anticipation of a grain export industry in the Interior that failed to develop. They have never been used, and sit on the cargo dock in the bay as a reminder of an overzealous optimism that was defeated by the realities of a harsh climate and shifting political winds.
